Quick drying fabric

The so-called quick drying is actually a literal translation of similar words such as QUICK-DRY or DRY-EASY in English, and quick drying refers to the comparison between the fabric of clothing and wool or cotton clothing; Under the same external conditions, it is easier to evaporate water and dry faster

The principle of quick drying

From a technical perspective, the main principles for waterproof and breathable quick drying clothes are as follows:
1. Utilize the difference between the minimum diameter of water droplets and the diameter of water or air molecules. 2. Use microporous thin films. 3. Utilize the hydrophilic factors and hydrophobic interactions of different components in the inner and outer layers of the fabric to achieve waterproof and breathable effects. 4. Utilize the characteristics of shape memory polymers.

The water splashing characteristics of fabrics

It refers to the special treatment of the fabric with a water splashing agent, which can cause water droplets to form a bead like shape on the surface, without penetrating or diffusing and wetting clothes, achieving a water splashing function like lotus leaves

(Lotus effect). Anti splash processing utilizes this principle by attaching a layer of ultra-fine "needle beds" to various chemical materials on the surface of the fabric, so that the surface tension of the fabric is less than the cohesive force of water. Therefore, when water droplets fall behind, they will form water droplets that roll out instead of spreading out and soaking. If this layer of needle bed structure is flattened or covered and infiltrated by oil stains, the fabric's anti splash ability will be greatly reduced, and even begin to absorb water

Functional treatment to prevent water infiltration. Nowadays, waterproof treatment often uses waterproof membranes to prevent water molecules from penetrating. However, the membrane itself is too fragile, so it needs to rely on the coordination of the surface cloth, membrane, and interior to achieve waterproof function. The waterproof ability is represented by the water pressure resistance value, which means that a fixed area of waterproof cloth is used to block the continuously rising water pressure. When a third drop of water seeps out of the surface, it is the water pressure resistance value of the fabric. Usually, the basic waterproof ability can be achieved if it exceeds 1000mm

Introduction to Fabric Characteristics

dripping wet

It specifically refers to the function provided by indirect breathable waterproof film, not to mention breathability, because it is two different breathable mechanisms, although both can ultimately allow sweat to pass through the fabric and emit to the outside world. Moisture permeability requires waiting for sweat to be absorbed by the hydrophilic and non porous membrane, forming sweat molecules inside and moving towards the outside of the membrane in a micro Brownian motion. It is affected by the humidity pressure difference between the inside and outside of the clothing, and then transformed into gas that passes through the surface and is discharged. Therefore, it is called indirect breathability

ventilation

In waterproof breathable film, it specifically refers to the function provided by water repellent porous waterproof film. Breathability is to allow gas to directly pass through the gaps of the water repellent porous film, which is called direct breathability due to its fast speed.

windproof

As long as the fabric has a certain windproof function, the tighter the fabric is woven, the stronger its windproof ability. Those with poor breathability generally have stronger wind resistance. High quality fabrics perfectly combine breathability and wind resistance.
